Summary

RubyGems versions 2.6.12 and earlier fail to validate specification names, allowing a maliciously crafted gem to potentially overwrite any file on the filesystem.

Remediation

Upgrade to the fixed version using your package manager.

Update rubygems-update to 2.6.13 or later
gem install rubygems-update -v 2.6.13

After upgrading, run your dependency scanner again to confirm the vulnerability is resolved.
